The International Library “La Vigna” is an Institute of documentation specialized in agricultural and rural world culture studies. It was founded thanks to the successful intuition of Demetrio Zaccaria, an entrepreneur from Vicenza who got fond of collecting books about viticulture and enology in the 50s.
He was a man of culture who dedicated so much time in studying the wine and its cultivation that received important and prestigious international research prizes.
When he died, in 1993, he bequeathed to the Comune di Vicenza and to the world an incredibly precious library.
The Centre and the Library reside in Vicenza, in Brusarosco-Zaccaria Palace, an old building of the XIX century partly restored by the architect Carlo Scarpa just after the World War II.
